Stronger than Yesterday

At Yoki Powerlifting, we believe that building strength and becoming the best powerlifter you can be is often unnecessarily complicated by many. In reality, it’s a simple process that requires a few key elements: dedication, coachability, resilience, and consistency.

Strength is not built overnight. The best athletes in the world have dedicated years to mastering their craft. To succeed, you must be willing to invest the time needed to develop your strength. It requires being coachable and trusting in your coaches, embracing their guidance and expertise.

Resilience is crucial. You must be prepared to overcome the obstacles and variables life throws your way, always pushing forward. Most importantly, show up every time with the goal of being 1% better than yesterday. Through consistent effort and incremental progress, you will become stronger, and before you know it, you may find yourself among the greats.

At Yoki Powerlifting, we are committed to making you Stronger than Yesterday. Join us on this journey of strength, perseverance, and excellence. Together, we will achieve greatness.

Ven Yovenko’s Story

My lifting journey began in 2017 as a 155lb, very skinny high school student. In 2022, I decided to take my passion to the next level and compete in powerlifting for the first time. I found a local powerlifting gym and coach and competed in my first meet in October 2022.

Before diving into competitive powerlifting, my coaching background was primarily in general fitness and transformation coaching. Since 2018, I have been self-programming to build strength for myself and my lifting partners.

After my first competition, I fell in love with the sport and never looked back. From 2021 to 2023, I worked with three different powerlifting coaches, learning valuable lessons from each. Eventually, I joined the NORi team under the guidance of Sean Noriega, which transformed my abilities as both an athlete and a coach.

My coaching style is heavily influenced by Powerlifting Now, NORi, and the experiences I’ve had with various coaches, both great and not-so-great. Today, my confidence and ability to coach athletes at the highest level are at their peak. I am proud to coach national-level athletes, helping them add an average of 50kg in the first six months of training.

I believe this is only the beginning for the Yoki Team. One day, I am confident that we will have world champions among us!

Testimonials

“I began working with Ven in July of 2023, and since then, I have grown greatly as a lifter. I spent 7-8 months preparing for my first powerlifting competition. Ven provided me with excellent and clear coaching that allowed me to be confident in every training session. His programming demonstrates precise attention to detail, and he can make adjustments whenever needed. I competed in a local USAPL meet, where I totaled 667.5 kilograms as a 110kg lifter, which was a state record for Massachusetts Raw Teen 3. My best squat was 255 kilograms, my best bench was 135 kilograms, and my best deadlift was 277.5 kilograms, which was also a Massachusetts record. My performance in this event also secured me a spot to compete in the USAPL Collegiate Nationals in 2025. Ven is a respectful, intelligent, and caring person, and has proven to be an excellent coach. Beyond the numbers, he cares about his athletes personally and is a great friend. If you are looking to make improvements in powerlifting, get into better shape, and improve your attitude toward life, Ven is the mentor that can get you there.”

– Wyatt Baker

“Before I started working with Ven, I knew I wanted to begin my powerlifting journey but was lost as to how. I luckily found Ven,  reached out and now am on my 6th block with him and already went from a 385lb squat to 450lbs, my bench went from 300lb to 315lbs and my deadlift blew up from 425lb to 500lbs. My strength improvement has been ridiculous and would’ve been almost impossible to achieve those numbers in 6 months without Ven as my coach. Not only did I increase my strength but got to grow a relationship with someone that I can now call a coach and a friend.”
